Day01 Huangyaguan (L)
Along the national highway, we first reach Jixian County 80km away from Beijing. Here, the must-to-see spot is the Temple of Solitary Joy (Dule si). The temple was firstly built in the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) and renovated in the Liao Dynasty (916-1125 AD). Other renovations have also been made recently. Then, driving 18km to the north from Ji County along Jiwei Road, you will see the Huangyaguan Great Wall winding across the mountains. It was firstly built in the 7th year of Tianbao, Beiqi Dynasty (557AD) and extensively repaired with bricks in Ming Dynasty. Lying on the precipitous mountain ridges, the Great Wall not only contains all kinds of ancient defensive works, but also boasts the peculiar Phoenix Fortress, Beiji Temple and the fortress of steles. The most noted factor of this section is that it is less plagued by tourists than its Beijing counterparts. Afterwards, we drive about 40km to The Eastern Qing Tombs. The East Tombs of the Qing Dynasty is the largest, best preserved and most complete of such kind in China, showing the harmonization of nature and human works perfectly. It is situated 125km (77.7miles) away form the east of Beijing, Zunhua County, Hebei Province. In 1661, the 2nd year of Emperor Kangxi's reign, the emperor ordered its construction. The whole project took about two centuries to complete, until Empress Dowager Cixi was buried in 1908. After the tour, we send you off to Beijing by van or car.
